US to legislate for fata ROZs in Sept: Boucher

ISLAMABAD: US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher said on Thursday that the US Congress would legislate for the establishment of ‘Reconstruction Opportunities Zones’ (ROZs) in the tribal areas of Pakistan in September.

Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao told reporters after meeting with Mr Boucher that he had briefed the US official on the Kabul Jirga.

Mr Sherpao said Mr Boucher expressed satisfaction over the successful jirga and said it would improve people-to-people contact.

Mr Sherpao also briefed the US official about the law and order situation in the country, the Lal Masjid operation, the situation in the tribal areas and counter terrorism and narcotics measures.
