'Airline plot' brothers walk free from court
November 1, 2006
Two brothers who had been charged in connection with the alleged plot to blow up transatlantic airliners have walked free, reports suggest.
The men were appearing at court in relation to the alleged plot, which brought Britain's air transport network to a near-standstill in August.
But the judge today ruled that there was 'insufficient evidence' to charge either Mehran Hussain, 24, or Umair Hussain, 25, and allowed them to walk free, according to media reports.
The brothers had been charged with failing to disclose information about their brother, Nabeel, who is still being held in relation to the alleged plot.
They appeared at a committal hearing at the City of Westminster magistrates today but have now been discharged.
