Detention of Rashid Rauf challenged in LHC
RAWALPINDI: A petition has been filed in Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench Tuesday challenging the arrest of Rashid Rauf, a British citizen of Pakistan origin by secret agencies from Bahawalpur for his alleged involvement in British plane bombing case.
Director General ISI, director general intelligence bureau, secretary foreign affairs, director operational national crisis cell have been made respondents.
The petitioner has pleaded that Rashid Rauf is a simple hearted and noble minded Pakistani. He is settled in UK and possess Britain citizenship. He had visited Pakistan in 2002.
Petition has been filed by Naheed Akhtar who is uncle of Rashid Rauf. The petitioner has prayed to the court to issue directives to concerned quarters not to hand over Rashid Rauf to some other agency or foreign country unless the petition is decided.
