CJP constitutional petition hearing adjourned

ISLAMABAD: The full court Thursday adjourned hearing of the constitutional petition filed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry against the presidential reference for tomorrow (Friday).
Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, the lead counsel for Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, in his arguments replied to the points raised by the counsels of the federation and the president.
Aitzas in his arguments said that the prime minister could not sent reference without approval of the president.
Referring a programme of Geo TV, the CJP counsel said that President Musharraf has himself said that he had left the chief justice to offer prayers, after which the chief justice was left with the chiefs of the intelligence agencies.
He pleaded to the court to dismiss the presidential reference against the chief justice, which is based on the statements of the chiefs of intelligence agencies, otherwise it would prove the root of evils.
The 13-member full court headed by Justice Khalilur Rahman Ramday, comprising of Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice M Javed Buttar, Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad, Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, Justice Ch Ijaz Ahmed, Justice Syed Jamshed Ali, Justice Hamid Ali Mirza and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.
