Rashid Rauf’s handing over to Britain not yet decided

ISLAMABAD: Federal interior secretary, Syed Kamal Shah has said that the suspect in British air terror plot Rashid Rauf arrested in Pakistan was under investigation against a registered FIR here for probing his links with Al Qaeda and added that his handing over to Britain has not been decided as yet.

Following officers’ passing out parade at the Police Academy here, interior secretary in a chat with the newsmen told that multi-dimensional investigations were underway against Rashid Rauf to find out as to how long and how far he had links with Al Qaeda. He said that an FIR was registered against Rashid Rauf in Pakistan and the process in this regard was underway.

Interior secretary told that the Britain’s request for handing over of Rashid Rauf was under consideration, but Pakistan would be taking any decision on it only after completion of its own investigations.

Regarding Balochistan situation, Syed Kamal Shah told that the situation in all over the province including Quetta was under control, while actions were being taken against the Ferari camps and the miscreants.
